I have been practicing at New Beginnings Counseling Center, Camarillo, California, since 1987. I spend a great deal of time working with children, pre-school through adolescence but I also work with adults in relationship counseling as well as a variety of individual concerns such as depression, anxiety, trauma, medical concerns, workplace and more.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist my training looks to the family and other units as a sources of potential healing. It is not, however, necessary to have any or all family members present for healing to occur. MFT is more a way of viewing a person's resources for growth and welness. I love to work with couples to help them find the best way to connect and optimize their relationship.

When I work with children I need to make use of as many caring people in that child's life as possible so parents and other caregivers may be part of a treatment team. The legal guardians are, of course, always first asked to provide approval.

I am trained in the use of EMDR which can be a useful tool for dealing with emotioal and physical trauma as well as generally accessing personal strength.

Pituitary and other Neuroendocrine Disorders (hormones) have an enormous connection with mental and emotional health, and thereby also affect the family too. I work with patients and families and their doctors along the way toward finding the best physical and mental health treatment.

I usually schedule an initial session where basic background, personal and family history as well as current concerns are closely attended to.  A treatment plan will be discussed that include desired goals. I encourage and welcome questions.

I strive to maintain only the highest level of professionalism but within a very personal way. I have served on many Boards of Directors and other leadership roles within my profession. So, I take great pride in being a Marriage and Family Therapist and being a part of the Ventura County community.

Payment for Sessions

Many insurance plans cover psychotherapy services. Coverage is unique to each plan and I although I cannot guarantee insurance payment my office will be happy to try to estimate your costs as best possible. As a service I bill primary insurance and do expect co-pays to be paid at each session unless other arrangements are made in advance.
